On this day trip to Cajón del Maipo from Santiago de Chile, we'll explore the El Yeso Reservoir, with its turquoise water surrounded by the rugged peaks of the Andes. A true escape into nature!
Day Trip Details
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Santiago and head into Cajón del Maipo, a stunning area of mountains and rivers in the heart of the Andes. Adventure awaits!
Our first stop is San José de Maipo, a traditional mountain town where we'll learn about local history and culture and take in the scenery.
Along the way, we'll pass some of Cajón del Maipo's most iconic spots, like the El Tinoco Tunnel, a remnant of the area's old railroad, which we'll see from the vehicle. We'll also enjoy views of the Yeso River and the surrounding mountains.
We'll make a stop for breakfast at a local spot in Cajón del Maipo, where you can order whatever you like at your own expense.
Then it's on to the star of the day: the El Yeso Reservoir, known for its bright turquoise water and the incredible mountain landscape surrounding it. At about 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) above sea level, it offers panoramic views of the raw beauty of the Andes.
Later, we'll take a break and give you some free time so you can buy some lunch and try some of the area's traditional flavors. We'll also visit Casa de Chocolate, famous for its eye-catching building and wide variety of chocolate treats.
To wrap up the day in spring and summer, we'll raise a toast together before heading back to Santiago, arriving about 10 hours after pickup.
