At the designated time, we'll meet by the Cinelândia metro station to begin this tour of Rio de Janeiro's historic center. Ready to experience the heart of Rio?
We'll take advantage of the iconic square at our meeting point to admire the spectacular buildings that surround it: the Theatro Municipal, the National Library of Brazil, and the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes. This museum is where European architecture meets the vibrant energy of Rio.
Next, we'll visit the Igreja de São Francisco da Penitência, a jewel of Brazilian Baroque architecture, considered one of the most beautiful churches in Brazil for its dazzling gilded carvings.
Afterward, we'll enter one of the most spectacular libraries in the world: the Royal Portuguese Cabinet of Reading. Its Neo-Manueline style and endless shelves will take your breath away.
We'll continue our tour with a stop at the historic Confeitaria Colombo, a true symbol of Rio's Belle Époque. There, we'll admire its French mirrors and stained-glass windows while discovering where high society used to have afternoon tea in the last century.
Next, we'll delve into the heart of colonial Rio, passing through Praça XV and the Arco do Teles, until we reach Casa Tucum. This last space hosts events and exhibitions that celebrate the art and crafts of Brazil's indigenous peoples.
To end on a high note, we'll enjoy an exclusive menu of Brazilian cuisine. For starters, you can choose between goat salad, country pâté, or ricotta pasta with olives. For main courses, you'll have moqueca (fish and shrimp stew), picadinho carioca (a traditional Rio-style stew), or the famous feijoada (Brazilian stew). For dessert, you'll choose between chocolate profiteroles, milk pudding, or Negresco ice cream cake.
