Decked out with your Machu Picchu tickets but nowhere to explore? Join our day trip from Cusco for a guided visit with transport to the iconic Incan archaeological site!
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to head straight for the train station that will take us to the famed archaeological site of Machu Picchu. Let's get to know one of the Seven Wonders of the World!
Take a seat as we settle in for one of the world's most spectacular railway rides, traversing through breathtaking landscapes, as we come to our final destination. As we arrive at Aguas Calientes, we'll board a bus for a short 30-minute ride and before we know it, we'll arrive at the Lost City of the Incas.
As we enter the archeological site, we'll begin our guided visit of Machu Picchu. Full of wonder, mystery, and incredible engineering feats, the site offers various significant landmarks to discover. Along our route, we'll visit several points of interest still standing centuries later, as we dive into the sacred symbolism and mythology behind Inca culture.
Then, after an immersive experience, we'll make the return to Aguas Calientes where you'll have free time to enjoy a classic Peruvian lunch at any local restaurant nearby. Depending on the train schedule, we'll enjoy free time in the village for 2-5 hours.
Finally, we'll return to Cusco and bring you back to your hotel, arriving anywhere from 14 to 18 hours later.
The excursion to Machu Picchu takes place on panoramic trains with huge windows and glass roofs—travelling on these trains is like flying! We offer the option to travel economy class (Expedition or Voyager train) and first class (Vistadome or The 360º train).
Both outbound and return trains to Cusco can operate from Poroy station (30 minutes from Cusco) or from Ollantaytambo station (1.5 hours from Cusco), depending on availability.
During the rainy season (December to March) the Poroy station is closed, so we'll go by bus to Ollantaytambo.
Once your booking is confirmed, we'll email you to indicate the exact time of pickup at your hotel and the station from where you'll take the train, as well as the timetable, which will be confirmed depending on the Machu Picchu entrance ticket you have.
The duration of the transfers will vary depending on the departure station. The journey between Poroy and Aguas Calientes takes about 4 hours, and the journey between Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes takes 1.5 hours.
Pickup is between 4 am and 6 am from the hotels in the historic centre of Cusco. If your accommodation is not in the centre, we'll meet you at the door of the Cathedral, in the Plaza de Armas. The pickup time will be confirmed in the days before the activity, as this will depend on the availability of the trains.
In the event of the activity being cancelled due to strikes or unfavourable weather conditions, we'll give you an alternative date for the tour. If the tour cannot be rescheduled, please note that you'll be refunded the full cost of the activity,
This activity does not include admission tickets to the archaeological site, these must be purchased by yourself. Please take into account the following times and routes for the trip, so that it can be carried out normally, in line with official logistics:
