On board the Copenhagen Sightseeing Bus, you can travel through the city’s streets in comfort and enjoy beautiful views of the Danish capital’s most iconic landmarks. You can take the full tour or hop on and off this open-top double-decker bus at any of its many stops.

Routes and Stops

The Copenhagen sightseeing bus offers 3 different routes to show you the city’s many facets. Recorded commentary in English is available on all routes. Below, we detail the routes and their main stops:

• Red Route: You’ll discover the capital’s royal heritage and its most famous landmarks. The main stops include The Little Mermaid, Amalienborg Palace, the Gefion Fountain, Rosenborg Castle, Christiansborg Palace, Tivoli Gardens, and the Strøget shopping area.
• Purple Route: You’ll explore the city’s alternative side. We’ll pass through the iconic Nyhavn harbour, the canals of the Christianshavn district, St Saviour’s Church, the famous free town of Christiania, and the lively Islands Brygge and Reffen areas.
• Green Route: Ideal for discovering the city’s brewing heritage and green spaces. The highlights include the historic Carlsberg Brewery, Copenhagen Zoo, the beautiful Frederiksberg Gardens, and Frederiksberg Palace.

How Does it Work?

When booking, you can choose whether you want your ticket to be valid for 24 or 72 consecutive hours from the time it is first used. For example, if you purchase the 24-hour option and use it for the first time on a Monday at 3.00 pm, it will be valid until Tuesday at 3.00 pm. You’ll have full access to all three routes in the city!

Timetables

Timetables, the duration of the full route and the frequency of bus services vary depending on the route:

• Red Route: operates from 9:30 am to 4.30 pm. The full route takes 90 minutes and buses run every 35 minutes.
• Purple Route: operates from 12 pm to 4 pm. The full journey takes 55 minutes and buses run every 120 minutes.
• Green Route: operates from 11:15 am to 3:15 pm. The full journey takes 45 minutes and buses run every 120 minutes.

Boat Trip around Copenhagen 

To round off your experience in the Danish capital, there’s nothing better than a boat trip along Copenhagen’s canals. You can board at central locations such as the famous Nyhavn harbour, Ved Stranden or Ofelia Plads, where we also have ticket offices. You’ll enjoy a leisurely 1-hour cruise. 

Unlike the bus, the boat does not make any stops, but instead takes you on a scenic tour of the canals and harbour areas. During the trip, you’ll have an audio guide in English, allowing you to discover lots of interesting facts about the landmarks you see. You’ll be able to admire The Little Mermaid, Amalienborg Palace and Christiansborg Palace, amongst many other sights. You won’t be able to stop taking photos!

What’s more, you can enjoy this cruise at any time of year: the boats are open-top in summer and are covered and heated in winter.

The exact location of your departure point will be clearly indicated on your voucher once you have made your booking. Please note that you may only take the boat tour once.

Timetables

The boat’s timetables vary depending on the time of year:

From 30 May to 20 September

• First departure: 9:30 am.
• Last departure: Between 7:30 pm and 9 pm from Nyhavn, and between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm from Ved Stranden.

From 21 September to 31 December

• First departure: 10 am
• Last departure: Between 4:30 pm and 7 pm from Nyhavn, and between 4 pm and 6 pm from Ved Stranden.
