11-Days Trip Of Northern Mexico
Day 1: Chihuahua
Once you have landed from your flight, we'll pick you up at the airport of Chihuahua to take you to your hotel. You'll have the rest of the day off to rest or get your bearings in the capital of the state at your own pace.
Day 2: Chihuahua - Samalayuca Dune Fields - Chihuahua
We'll have breakfast at the hotel and set off north toward the fascinating Samalayuca Dune Fields, an impressive dune with golden sand in the desert. Here, we'll embark on an exciting sandboarding activity to glide down the dunes and enjoy a snack while admiring the immensity of the Samalayuca Dune Fields.
At dusk, we'll return to your hotel in Chihuahua for dinner, and you'll rest for the next day.
Day 3: Chihuahua - Cuauhtémoc - Creel
After breakfast, we'll pick you up to start our journey to Cuauhtémoc. We'll visit the Museo Menonita y la Casa de las Galletas, where you'll learn about this community's history, customs, and economic impact in the region.
We'll continue our route toward the summits of the Sierra Tarahumara until we reach the Pueblo Mágico of Creel, connected to the country's railroad tradition.
Here, we'll have dinner and stay the night. See you tomorrow!
Day 4: Creel - Copper Canyon Adventure Park - Creel
Day 4! After breakfast, we'll head toward Copper Canyon. We'll take in the mountain scenery from Cueva de Doña Catalina, the Oteros River viewpoint, and the lookout of San Luis de Majimachi.
Next, we'll venture into Copper Canyon Adventure Park to get an adrenaline rush on a zipline circuit and hike to the village of Bacajípare. Afterward, we'll enjoy a picnic with a view before returning to our hotel in Creel to rest.
Day 5: Creel - Lake Arareco - Creel
We'll start the day with breakfast at the hotel. Afterward, we'll tour the area around Creel to admire the unique rock formations of the Valle de los Hongos, the Valle de los Monjes, and the Valle de las Ranas. We'll also visit Cueva de San Sebastián, Cascada de Cusárare, and the beautiful Lake Arareco, where we'll share a pleasant outdoor picnic complete with wine and a campfire.
In the afternoon, you'll have free time before we gather to enjoy a special three-course dinner. The meal will feature melted ranchero cheese with honey, beef steak with gravy, and cheesecake.
Day 6: Creel
We'll begin the day with a mountain hike to watch the sunrise and take in panoramic views of the Creel Valley. After the hike, we'll return to the hotel for breakfast and rest.
Next, you'll enjoy a massage at a spa—a hot stone and forest-scented therapy accompanied by a bottle of wine in a heated jacuzzi.
You'll have the rest of the afternoon at your leisure.
Day 7: Creel - Cerro del Gallego - Cerocahui - Divisadero
We'll have an early breakfast and travel to the Cerro del Gallego viewpoint, the deepest and most majestic point of the entire canyon. There, we'll enjoy a picnic with breathtaking panoramic views while observing the local wildlife.
Later, we'll visit the Cerocahui Mission, founded by Jesuits over 340 years ago. To top it all off, we'll take part in a tasting featuring grapes and a charcuterie board before transferring to our hotel in Divisadero to rest.
Day 8: Divisadero - Copper Canyon - Divisadero
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll embark on an 11 mi (18 km) hike along the natural trails of the Copper Canyon. Accompanied by a guide expert in local flora and fauna, you'll discover the wilder side of the Sierra and the Rarámuri way of life. The day trip includes a picnic lunch and a cable car ride. In the evening, we'll have dinner at the hotel in Divisadero.
Day 9: Divisadero - El Fuerte
We'll have an early breakfast before boarding the famous Chepe Express with El Fuerte as its destination, in the state of Sinaloa. This journey offers unforgettable views among tunnels, bridges, and ravines.
Upon arriving to El Fuerte, you'll have the afternoon off to explore this historical colonial town next to its river. Finally, we'll head to the hotel to rest.
Day 10: El Fuerte
We'll start the day by enjoying breakfast at the hotel. Then, we'll start a nice 2.5-hour boat ride along the Fuerte River to visit the famous petroglyphs, ancient engravings carved in stone by the Indigenous cultures.
You'll have the afternoon off, and at night, we'll enjoy a special breakfast at the Hotel Posada del Hidalgo paired with the Danzante Zorro show. What a magical way to end the trip!
Day 11: El Fuerte - Los Mochis
After breakfast at the hotel, at the designated time, we'll take you to the airport of Los Mochis so you can take your return flight. Until our next adventure!
