On this tour, we’ll explore central Beijing, visiting Tian’anmen Square, the Mao Mausoleum, the Forbidden City, and the hutongs, the city’s most traditional alleyways.
We recommend this tour for travelers who prefer to take the Beijing in one day route at a more relaxed pace. If you have two days, booking this tour together with the Temple of Heaven and Summer Palace tour will give you more time to enjoy each visit and see more landmarks.
Tour Details
After picking you up in your hotel lobby at the designated time, we'll head to Beijing's oldest alleyways, known as hutongs, aboard a rickshaw, a traditional Chinese mode of transportation. Along the way, you'll see how many residents still live much as they did in the city's past, making this ride truly memorable.
Next, we'll head to Tiananmen Square, the most important square in the country and the largest in the world. In this huge plaza, we'll see the outside of the Monument to the People's Heroes, the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong, the Great Hall of the People, and the National Museum. You can snap photos of these magnificent buildings, although we won't go inside.
Leaving the square from the north, we'll reach the entrance to the Forbidden City, the largest imperial palace in China, home to 24 emperors for over 5 centuries. We'll explore the complex, visiting its most interesting spots and sharing its legends.
After the visit, you'll have free time to grab lunch and rest.
The tour will end at your hotel or wherever you'd prefer after 8 hours.
Forbidden City
The Forbidden City is closed every Monday of the year. So if your flight lands in Beijing on a Monday, we recommend making the most of the day by visiting the Great Wall of China or the Temple of Heaven.
Also keep in mind that availability for the Forbidden City is limited, especially on busy dates. We recommend booking this activity at least 7 days in advance.
Required Documents
When you book, you'll need to provide passport details for each person on the tour. It's essential that you enter the correct passport number, as it can't be changed later. If the number of people in your group doesn't match the number of fields to fill in, please enter "N/A" in each empty field. You'll need to bring your passport on the day of the tour.
